Do you know why the iconic Dining Chair Metal (DCM), designed by Charles & Ray Eames, took over six years to be launched?
Well, the World War II happened. Starting in 1941, C. Eames had to develop equipment to help injured soldiers.
👉 This is the reason the first mass production item made of tridimensional molded plywood — developed along with Eero Saarinen — was actually a leg splint. The soldiers appreciate it!
When the WWII finally got to an end, the Eames couple could get back working on the DCM project, which started to be manufactured in 1946. ✨
